HIT Movement Stable | Hall 19/20
As part of a special show, HIT will present to visitors the species-appropriate horse husbandry in the HIT-Aktivstall®. This form of husbandry, which is now well known beyond Germany, allows horses to live in a herd with social contacts and tasks within this group. The horses are offered plenty of exercise, fresh air and a wide variety of environmental stimuli. Due to the well thought-out individual feeding technique, the horse can eat many small portions of feed distributed over 24 hours a day in a manner appropriate to its species. At the beginning of the development of active stables, many horse owners wondered whether this modern group housing with the use of innovative feeding technology could actually work in practice.
It is gratifying to see that active stabling extends across all directions of use, such as private horse keeping, horse boarding, breeding and rearing operations, but also, to an increasing extent, sport horse keeping. In each of these stables it is impressively shown that they fulfill the requirements that are demanded of a species-appropriate horse husbandry.
Nowadays the point "species-appropriate" gains more and more importance. In the meantime, many official recommendations go in the direction of providing the horse with a maximum of exercise, social contact, frequent feeding times and fresh air. The active stable does not only offer advantages for the animal, also the human being profits from this concept. In addition to the horses' increasing balance and willingness to perform, the amount of work required is also reduced by around half compared to conventional stall management.
